For Harley-Davidson, it was the motivation behind the most unknown model in the company’s history. The rise of Southern Rock gave the South a new cultural cachet, while also unfortunately spawning Billy Beer, Hee Haw and, in 1979, The Dukes of Hazzard. As it happens, it was also the heyday of “Southern Rock.” Bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, Black Oak Arkansas and Marshall Tucker were the new cultural vogue, regularly showcasing their roots in visual shorthand with large confederate flags as backdrops for their stages. Harley-Davidson introduced special “Liberty Editions” of it's bikes featuring red, white and blue detailing, while Ford marketed a special red, white and blue Pinto. New front forks (extended 4" from stock forks) with chrome springsġ9 tooth front sprocket which gears it down from the original 23 tooth sprocket - I have both sprockets and will include the 23 tooth with the bikeĪwesome paint job - House of Kolors cobalt blue candy over black with sea blue flake - turns chameleon colors in the sun I have the street tires and will include them with the bike. Consequently, I have a brand new Maxxis knobby dirt bike tire on the back and a brand new 19" knobby on the front. Recently, I have been drag racing this bike in 300' dirt drags. The motor itself has 24,139 actual miles. Transmission has been shimmed and gone through. It has a Barnett racing clutch, brand new primary chain, and a brand new shifting lever. This Harley Davidson Sportster is very fast and runs excellent. ![]()
